Industrial Biennale of Contemporary Art is already the third one for the Ural region. It started on 9th of September and will continue till 10th of November. The idea behind this event belongs to the Governmental center of contemporary art of the Yekaterinburg city. The Biennale 2015 will be held in Yekaterinburg and 11 other cities of the region.

 

The Ural region and its industrial heritage has largely influenced the selection of the main theme of the event. Organizers of the biennial suggest taking a new approach towards the development of the region - by using art as a main resource. This is a unique event is held with strong collaboration with business community, companies, main institutions and leading manufacturers of Ural region.

 

The main theme is "Mobilization" as a condition for change, and potential to go to the upper level. Authors are taking a perspective of using avant-garde architecture in contemporary art as means of expression. They would like to investigate the role of culture, critical thinking and contemporary art in the current situation of high "mobilization" activity.
