The Baikal Ice Skating Marathon to start off in March

The Baikal International Ice Skating Marathon, Russia's most exotic footrace, will be held from 1st till 3rd of March. The Ice skating race will go on frozen water of Baikal Lake, with the starting point at the settlement Sakhyurta of the Irkutsk region, at the Bazarnaya Bay.

The Ice skating competition is held on a specially prepared race track. According to the program, the competition includes the night run, which is 5 kilometers long for adults and 100 meters for children. It will start at 21:30 on the 1st of March.

On the 2nd of March, the nonprofessionals will be able to run the distance of 5 and 10 kilometers, while for professionals will be available such distances as 25.5 and 100 kilometers. During the same day, the family competitions and competitions for kids will be held, along with the 500-meter race in the swimming suites.

On the next day will be an excursion to Ogoi Island.

The registration for the marathon is open for everyone and can be completed at the website of the event: ww.baikalmarathon.blogspot.com. Already now it is known that at the event, this year, will be competing people from Russia, Germany, Netherlands, Estonia, Japan, China, and Mongolia. The participation is possible with any type of ice skates.
