Jazz on Baikal Festival to take place in Irkutsk on April 8th-11th
XI International Festival ‘Jazz on Baikal’ will officially open on April 8th with jazz parade in the center of Irkutsk. The parade will pass through Fashion District Mall where jam session Irkutsk musicians and guests of the festival will take place. Similar event was held last year.
The festival will also include junior competition in three age groups - from 7 to 12 years, from 13 to 17 years and from 18 to 25 years. Prize-winning places will be distributed in six categories: instrumental solo, jazz vocal solo, pop-jazz vocal solo, instrumental ensembles, jazz vocal ensembles and orchestras. Igor Bril, famous be Soviet and Russian jazz pianist and professor at the Russian Academy of Music, will be Chairman on the Jury.
Besides the Contest, Festival event list includes master classes and a concert for physically challenged people. The Festival will end on April 11th with Gala Concert featuring Igor Bril and Igor Butman.
‘Jazz on Baikal’ first took place in 2006. During the 10 years of its existence the Festival was visited by 30 million people and over 120 Russian and foreign jazz stars performed on its stage.
