The water temperature in the Baikal lake during this time is not higher than 3-4 Celsius degrees, so divers had to make thorough arrangements and prepare specific diving equipment for low temperature environment.

Despite the adverse weather conditions, the tradition of the Christmas diving exists already for 25 years, and is the beloved celebration tradition of the divers, who celebrate the coming of the New Year in the Baikal Lake.
