The Latvijas Expresis connects the capitals of Russia and Latvia, with so-called “through carriages” that also connect Riga to St Petersburg. Operated by Latvian Railways, the train makes daily overnight runs, with the trip between Moscow and Riga taking about 16 hours.
The train offers 1st Class tickets with include passage in a cabin with 2 lower berths and a TV. There are also VIP 1st Class cabins, which have one upper and one lower berth and include a shower and toilet. 2nd Class cabins sleep 4 (2 upper, 2 lower) and have a TV. Both 1st and 2nd Class compartments have air conditioning and free Wi-Fi, and gender-specific cabins area available for both.
3rd Class options are also available, both for open an open sleeper car (“platzkart”) or on a seated carriage. All “sleeper” tickets include bed linens, and all tickets include tea or coffee, and a bottle of mineral water. The Latvijas Expresis also has a dining car, from which passengers can order meals to their cabin.
