The Circum-Baikal Railway is getting ready for the new tourist season
The Circum-Baikal Railway will open the new 2016 season on April 30th. Currently, the railway infrastructure is being prepared and the railway authorities discuss this year’s cooperation with tour operators.
Locomotive trips to Port Baikal are scheduled for Wednesdays and Saturdays, and trips in the opposite direction - to Irkutsk - are planned on Thursdays and Sundays. On Fridays, 11 times per season, ‘locomotive one-day tours’ will be offered. Tour operators expect increased number of visitors from China and Korea.
According to Russian Railways, 27 tourist train routes will include a visit to the Circum-Baikal Railway.
All in all, about 100 trips are planned on Circum Baikal Railway in 2016. During such trips, passengers will be offered a fascinating excursion program. 1st, 2nd and 3rd class tickets are available on the trains.
Besides specialized tourist trains, it is also possible to see the Circum-Baikal Railway on board of the following commuter trains:

In 2015, the Circum-Baikal Railway was visited by 30 000 people from all over the world.
